William Stephans Obituary

William Frederick Stephans December 5, 1944 - July 1, 2023 Wichita, Kansas - William Frederick Stephans, aged 78, of Wichita, Kansas, departed this earth on July 1, 2023. Born in Wichita on December 5, 1944 to Harold and Mary Stephans, Bill was raised in Wichita his entire life, graduating from Wichita High School East in 1962. He then attended Kansas State University, pledging Theta Xi Fraternity, and earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, with a minor in Computer Science in 1967, and marrying Marjorie "Micki" Wright in August of that year. Like his father, he entered the aircraft industry, working in computer support for Beechcraft and Raytheon for nearly 40 years. Bill, as he was known, would spend the remainder of his life in Wichita, pursuing a passion for computers, including building many of his own. He was known to all as a skilled problem solver, assisting many of his friends and family with their technology questions and needs. Among his family and friends, Bill was regarded as kind, loving, with a wonderful sense of humor. His encouragement of his sons' interests helped them both become supportive and caring educators. Among his many interests was a deep support of Kansas State University athletics, especially football, as well as enjoying the beauty of the Rocky Mountains. His absence is deeply felt by all who knew him and were honored to call him colleague, friend, and family. He was preceded in death by his son, Sean of Parker, Colorado.
Bill is survived by his widow, Micki of Wichita, his son Ryan, daughter-in-law Katie, and grandson Kellan, all of Olathe, Kansas, his granddaughter Jordan of Colorado Springs, as well as sister, Cathy Feemster, also of Wichita.
Services will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church in Wichita at 10:30 a.m. on July 20, 2023 and can be live-streamed at http://ibcwichita.com/live
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church and the Kansas State University Alumni Association.
